The Wii Has Arrived!

Yesterday, Chloe and I went out for a little girl's day with some shopping and lunch. It was a lot of fun, until she starting getting sick at Walmart. Yuck. Chris and Caiden stayed home to watch the first Griz playoff game of the year (they won, 31-13 - Go Griz!). When we get home, they were still in front of the TV, but this time, they were playing with their new toy, the Wii. We have been talking about getting one for a while, and Chris found a really great deal on one and couldn't pass it up. And Caiden is sure glad he didn't! He loves that thing. And he's pretty darn good for a 4 year old! He gave me a run for my money on tennis, he beat Chris in golf, and he can score over a 100 in bowling. He is pretty good on boxing too, but he can get tired on that one and he will start begging the opponent to stay down! My dad has one too so we are going to bring our controllers with us when we go to MT for Christmas so 4 people can play at the same time and it's going to get a little crazy! I'm thinking the couches are going to have to be moved! As we were playing last night, I was thinking how crazy we must look to people driving by as we are swinging and jumping around in our house! :)

Turkey Trot 2008

The Turkey Trot 5K is the biggest race that the Black Hills Runners Club puts on during the year. And this year was a big one; 880 runners and walkers were signed up. The kids, Kelly and I went to cheer Chris on as he went for a new PR. I was thinking of pushing the kids in the stroller during the race, but I knew there would be a lot of complaining as it was in the low 20s so I just decided to sit this one out and watch Chris break his PR. And he did! By a lot! He set his PR of 19:45 at the Halloween race in 2007 so he had gone a year without getting a new 5K PR. But this year, he ran the Turkey Trot in 18:43!! That's three 6 minute miles in a row! I know I will never see myself do that so it was fun to watch him do it! :) The only bad part of the race is that we did not get one of the 320 pies they raffled off after the race. But with 880 people, a lot of people walked away empty handed this year. It was a very fun Thanksgiving morning and Chris did a great job!! You Rock Chris!!

Turkey Cookies!

The kids saw this on NickJr.com and they just had to make them for snacks for their preschool classes. They had fun "helping" make them although Chris did most of the work! They helped out a lot by eating them though! The shape of the turkeys are their hands so they really did have a hand in making them! Haha...I crack myself up! :)

Snow Day!!

Remember last weekend when we were riding our bikes at the park and we were wearing shorts? Well, things have drastically changed around here. Wednesday night, a Blizzard warning was issued and 8-14 inches of snow were expected. The winds started blowing like crazy (there were reports of 80mph winds) and the snow started falling(well, just blowing everywhere really!) and it was just plain miserable out! When we went to bed on Wednesday night, it didn't seem like we had all that much snow, but it was a different story on Thursday morning. Belle Fourche wasn't hit as hard as some of the other places in the Hills (Deadwood reported 45 inches of fallen snow), but we had plenty in our front yard. There were drifts over 6 feet tall at places around the Hills. And the wind never let up yesterday. The kids didn't understand why they couldn't play in this snow, but it was just too cold with that wind. Schools, City and County Offices, and all of the Roads/Interstates were closed. Most of the roads are still closed as the plows couldn't go out yesterday to clean things up. The kids and I spent the day playing board and card games, doing puzzles, watching movies and coloring. I did get all of the laundry done too so that was a plus to having the day off! My friends, Desiree and Kelly, and I were supposed to go to the Shinedown/Buckcherry concert last night, but of course the bands couldn't get here because the Interstate was closed so now the concert has been postponed. I really hope they are able to come back.

When we woke up this morning, everything was calm and it was actually very beautiful out. The sun was shining on the snow and most importantly, there was no wind! Schools and City offices were still closed today though because the roads are still closed and the ones that are open are "no travel advised." So, now I have had 2 days off! Of course the kids wanted to go outside right away so we got all of their winter gear on and headed out. It wasn't even really that cold. They had a fun time until Caiden started eating the snow and Chloe was worried that he was going to eat all of it and she wouldn't have any to play in. Yes, this is what my children fought about today! I think they were cooped up a little too long yesterday! Chris has missed all of this, because he is in Colorado for training and we have no idea if he will make it home tonight. They SAY that the plows will be out all day today to clean everything up so I hope they are right! Hopefully, the Interstate will reopen sometime today. Until then, I am going to make some yummy soup to warm everyone up on this cold day! Here are some pictures of the kids playing in the snow! Enjoy! I hope you are all keeping warm!

Riding Our Bikes

We took the kids to the park to rides their bikes today as it's back to being 75 degrees for a few more days! It's probably the last of the nice weather that we will have for a while! They had a great time and are getting pretty good at it too!

Halloween Fun!

The kids had a great Halloween and ended up with way more candy than any 3 and 4 year old should have! We had a short costume parade downtown followed by trick-or-treating at the downtown businesses. And after some pizza for dinner, we headed out to go door to door. We were going to go to the Halloween party at our Community Center, but the kids were having too good of a time ringing those doorbells. After a couple of hours, they were finally tired and we headed home to check out our loot. Kelly found a new love of popcorn balls and Chloe wanted to give all of her chocolate away for all of the "Smarties" I'm not sure if she is actually my child. I told Caiden this was the only night that he could eat all of the candy he wanted so he took full advantage of that! Hope you all had a great Halloween too!
